Travel is glamorous to many. You can meet fascinating people and experience interesting cultures. Our travel dreams are more likely to come true if we engage in careful planning. The following guidance will make your trip even better.
Use an ATM when you are in a distant country. Banks will get better rates for exchanging currencies than you would be able to get. You end up with more savings if you go to a bank.
Keep a photo of your children on you at all times, in case they become lost. The idea of losing your child likely scares you, but not being prepared is worse. The fact remains, however, that it is not unheard of. Having a photo ready to show people in the event that they get lost, can really make the difference in finding your child quickly.
Carry a doorstop with you to give your hotel stay a little bit of extra security. Sometimes, especially when traveling in less developed countries, it is desirable to have a little bit more security in your hotel room at night. This added security will make it more difficult for a thief to enter your room.
When you travel to foreign countries, watch the taxis you enter. If you simply could not get a recommendation and have to grab a vehicle immediately, all legitimate services should have some form of driver Identification and company license available in plain view on the dash. Anybody can place “taxi” on a car, and you don’t know if they really are or where they could take you.
When traveling on an airplane, don’t rely on the airline for any of your comfort needs, even if it’s an international flight. Bring your own pillow, blanket and headphones if you think you will need them. If you are concerned about not getting anything to eat on the flight, bring along your own snacks also.
How knowledgeable are you about traveling? Is your plan good right now, or do you even think you have a good one? Can you add anything that works for your budget and your needs? Have you made preparations to deal with emergencies or unexpected expenses? Having read the preceding tips, your answer to these questions should be a resounding “yes!”
